Best supplier of wood pellets this year?

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone knows a good supplier of wood pellets this winter?

I use them underneath a thick straw bed to soak up the wee for a rather wet gelding. I can’t use straw pellets because he eats them… 🤦‍♀️ I tried spraying them/mixing them with dirty pellets/making the bed super thick but he’s convinced I’m hiding pony nuts in his bed.

Obviously the cost went up hugely last year (hence trying straw pellets).

I had an email from white horse with their unbranded pellets coming in at £280 50x15kg bags. However, when I’ve gone to purchase them, they’re sold out.

I’ve had a bit of a Google and blue ribbon are coming in a close second at £299.

It’s still pretty eye watering as I think I bought the same thing for £165 the winter before the Ukrainian war.

I’m just wondering if anyone knows or can recommend any other supplier?

Thanks

I bought Platinum Plus from White Horse. They were £420 for 65 bags. I only use wood pellets so need top quality, I won't buy anything less absorbent to save money as it works out a lot more for me in the long run.

Did you notice a difference between brands, @9tails?

I have only ever used white horse unbranded, or PAH wood cat litter and didn’t really notice any difference? So I hadn’t really taken it into consideration… so that’s something to bear in mind. Thank you

Prices round here are going down at the moment. I use snowflake just because it's the best of what's available locally. I tried some cheaper options but they weren't as good and ended up costing more.

Mine was another who are straw pellets

Yes, absolutely. In the distant past, I've used a few other options and found a big difference in absorbency. I bought a pallet of Pure Wood Pellets once, they looked beautiful and very pale, they had absolutely no absorbency and I went through 30 bags in less than a month. White horse unbranded used to be very good, but they've gone darker and less absorbent so I'll pay a bit more for something I know works well.

I used to use Sorbeo, Blue Ribbon and White Horse unbranded. They were all good, price-wise white horse were the best but then they shot up. I seen an advert for sorbeo the other day, i think they work out around £7.35 a bag. Remember they’re 18kg bags too in comparison to others. I don’t use them anymore though, I use sawdust under straw to soak up pee. If there’s any out there coming down in price I’d be very interested.

Agri pellets which I believe deliver country wide are a decent price for a pallet.

I have managed to source some local to me thar works out at 5.50 per 15kg bag, 3 of us are sharing a pallet
