Best support boots

Now I know no boot can really support the tendons despite what they say but following my horses ddft tear and subsequent recovery we are now allowed to ride in walk and being honest that's probably all we will ever do but I like to feel I am doing my best and have always been careful on what we do on what ground and put boots on (her injury still boggles my mind) I've been looking at the le mieux ultra support and pro support, the premier equine support boots, equilibrium stretch and flex wraps, woof wear wraps and shires dressage wraps the price range is from about £27 a pair (shires) up to around £59 (equilibrium). I've as you can imagine spent a lot on vet bills so budget not that healthy but if the expensive ones are worth it then I will get them. Just wondering if anyone has experience I'm never sure if more money is always necessarily worth it or if you but cheap they are rubbish?! Obviously we are only doing like ten mins of walk at the moment which will increase but doubt we will ever get out of walk sadly!

You know that a boot cannot give support and that they can make the leg warm while used so leave him without any, I brought one back from a tendon injury and he only wore boots for fast work, to reduce the risk of a strike injury, he did all his walking and fitness work with nothing on and his leg looked great, it stood up to several races, plenty of RC activities once he retired and I think not being wrapped up in boots helped him.

None of those will give 'actual' support - the only thing that I would have any degree of faith in would be correctly used exercise bandages, but I think the overheating risk would outweigh the benefit for me, especially at walk.

I’ve been there, after our horse did a check ligament I was desperate to find magical boots that would hold him together. In truth, as above the risk of overheating is far greater. Safer unbooted

Glad you asked as I was wondering the same thing and now won't bother I'm investing in ice boots instead!

As everyone has already said no boot gives real tendon support and there is the risk of overheating.

IMO you can't see past Professional Choice for sports medicine boots. They are £80 up to around £150 for the top of the range.

I think because there is the strap that goes under and around the fetlock it was assumed that was offering some of tendon support. The boots are used for protection against knocks only.

I'd maybe use a lightweight breathable boot just to offer some protection from accidental knocks.
