Have always used Rambo ones but the one we bought in 2014 was half shredded within months and only made it through 2015 by having another rug stitched to it. Not very happy about spending over £100 for something that doesn't stand up to normal use. So - what should I be getting this year?

I found the snuggy hoods one were good. Lightweight and didnt get heavy and sodden in rain and stretchy so were a forgiving fit. I did have a Rambo one but only used it in heavy rain when there werent midges about anyway. But then I "cured" mine with a yard move to where there was less lush grass and a huge diet change :)

If your horse is shredding the Rambo rug it will probably shred the others, though I do find the Premier Equine ones quite tough. What is it ripping the rug on? Is everything electric taped off that he could rub on?

The last one - she killed the cross surcingles and then the back of the rug. Mostly from rubbing her tummy on the ground! We have 8 acres and another pony who likes to remove electric fence posts with her teeth, so can't fence off all likely scratch points. Our old electric fencing had wooden stakes, but the sweet-itch pony rubbed her bottom on them until they fell over. The rug was a nice insulator from the electric!
