Best TB crosses?

I have a fabulous dun Connie/TB. We bought him as a weedy 15.1hh 4 yr old.
He's now a strapping 16hh. He's by a dun connemara called Shipton Teasel who I think has sired some good competition types. Not sure if he is still alive but he stood in the west country I think.
The only thing with this horse is that he has a brain and has to use it or gets himself in trouble!

:D You don't want to ask ME about recommendations for Cleveland Bays! The first horse I bought in the UK was a 4 year old Cleveland Bay x Anglo-Arab! He was a handsome horse - and that is about the ONLY good thing you could say about him. The girl who helped me back him had a CBxTB that she evented quite successfully - on its good days!! I'm not a great fan of the breed!

IDs - now - a totally different kettle of fish! The RID x TB (assuming the TB mare has a REASONABLE temperament) is close to perfect. The TB on the RID mare can be even better - as the mare teaches manners as well as contributing to the genetic mix.

The one you've seen is very nice indeed. If you want to use AI, the other one who is VERY special is Avanti Amorous Archie - fab mover, outstanding temperament - and excellent semen! I've used him for 4 years now and had some stunnning foals!

Dear Janet,

We both have a friend in Suffolk, who owns two ID's. She has been to our yard in France and learning my husband's much loved mare was pts on Christmas morning she wrote

"Merindah was beautiful inside and out." What a shame your first experience of the breed was not at our yard, where every single horse will charm you.

Merindah was purchased for my husband who started riding for the first time in his 50's. She was a star in every way and never put a foot wrong.

We almost bought another horse for him.

He was both a golf and equestrian member at a well known Resort Hotel in Scotland, where he learned to ride. He had a very bad fall during a private (flat work) lesson. A few weeks later a senior instructor was hospitalised by the same horse and off work for many weeks. We were told initially that this lovely mare was for sale for a reasonable price. Breed?? Irish Draft.

I do not conclude from this experience that the ID as a breed warrants bad mouthing on a public forum. The pure bred CB we bought was 3 x the price and worth every penny.

A friend in Scotland owned one of the nastiest ponies I have ever encountered - a Highland. I don't hold this against the breed. I own a delightfull Highland gelding.

You cannot judge a breed based on one or two individuals - especially if they are part breds.

We searched for CB's from certain blood lines. We wanted a mare/gelding from either Borderfame Prince Charming or Mulgrave Royal. Two mares were for sale on the CBHS website, one by BPC and one by MR so we bought two...as you do.

Never a second of regret. We made a very good decision. Lovely horses in every way.

I've had a Connie x TB and a IDxTB.

My ConnieX was my first horse but I would say he was a pony in a horses body - which was fantastic at the time for a 15yo.
My IDx was the best I ever had - cant fault him.

I did look into covering my WB with a CB but after lots of research we decided not to. I can't remember the conclusion but I really liked them.

ID without doubt. Just look back in history for what they have achieved.

True all round horses. Speed and scope from the TB, sense and substance from the ID.

Amorous Archie.
