Best thing for a squitty bum???

Aswell has all his other problems just thrown a splint, getting 2 teeth through he has also got a squitty bum.
Well they say things come in threes well hopefully that is it.
Every year that this time of yr he gets a squitty bum dont think it is his feed cause been on it ages, but he lives out in summer so doesnt have much hayledge or feed.
It is either the carrots i give him in his feed or hayledge or both.
Firstly i am goin to stop his carrots, cause thats what i think it cud be.
And see how he goes on just hayledge, n hard feed.
I dont really want to give him hay if i can help it, wud rather him be on hayledge.
Any1 know of any good suppliments etc for the squits if its not carrots ?????
 
oh yes natural bio yoghurt i think i have tried that one b4 n it worked, i forgot about that thanks will do n he is off his carrots now so hopefully will have a dry bum from now on .

Have just used this sucessfully on a pair of mares, 1 with a seasonal squitty bum, the other who had a squitty bum (but no colic!) after being fed chicken curry!
 
Sunny gets the mild squits every year on haylage so are you sure it's the carrots??? I'd be very cautious about codeine as a solution because it works by slowing peristalsis in the gut. It would only be masking the symptoms, not resolving them. And if anyone has ever had to take codeine for any length of time, you will know it causes constipation and constipation in a horse might be worse than the original squits, eg impaction colic.
 
oh god thats all i need colic thanks i wont be trying that one.
His bum was alot better tonight and he has only not had carrots 4 a day , there wasnt really anythin on his legs tonight where there has been recently.
Thanks guys will see how he goes
