best thing for very soft frogs that are bleeding ??

My horse has had thrush recently, anyway, i thought i cleared it up, but today both back frogs are extremely soft and after coming in from the field this afternoon his poor hoofs were bleeding abit just by his heels on both back feet, the frogs are really soft - there doesnt seem to be any thrush and the rest of the hoof is dry and hard, but the frogs are so soft, i feel alful that they were bleeding (he was playing and galloping around the field with the other horses and the ground is hard) ????????????????
 
I once had a horse that when I bought him had very wet feet with soggy peeling frogs and thrush my farrier told me to paint Stockholm tar on them which did the trick, smells wonderful too;-))

I would get your friendly farrier out to have a look and advise.
 
Hi, My lad came in after being out on wet ground for a week (i was on holiday and person looking after him left him out!!) had soft frogs and looked like warn patches on his heel bulbs. The vet gave me some blue spray (sorry i can't remember what it was called) but i applied twice a day and after a couple of days his frogs were hard again.
It wasn't expensive (approx £10 for the can) and it worked.
It's also used on cows and sheep for fly strike.
However if your frogs are bleeding then maybe get your farrier to pop round and take a look as they are the foot experts...Good Luck :)
 
netex hoof master spray, spray it on every other day, has cleared my boys thrush up in his hinds and his was bleeding when the farrier fiddled with it.
 
Did anyone else completely misinterpret the point of this post the first time they read the title?

It's been a long day - I got up at 430 to go cubbing so perhaps I have lost the plot even more than usual. But it gave me visions of cuddly toy frogs bleeding! :-O
