Looking into part exchanging our current rice 3-horse trailer for a some form of two horse trailer. It needs to carry a 17hh and 16hh occasionally and will be used to carry ponies mostly. The car can tow the rice so can't think weight will be an issue but the lighter the better. Any suggestions? Only one I've thought of is ifor 510 but not sure of prices?
Thanks

The only way we could choose was to list all the qualities we wanted in a trailer, then list them in order or priority. We looked at Fautras Provan, Rice, Bateson and Cheval Liberte, and ended up with an Ifor 510. We thought it was the best overall value for money, was well made, light and roomy. It really is a case of looking at what is best for you.

If you were only ever taking up to 15 hands then I could not recommend anything more suitable than the Bateson Derby - very light, easy to move by yourself - I can pull mine out, pull turn it 90 degrees, push down the path and hitch up with ease. Lovely to tow, light and airy inside.

It allows me to tow a trailer and Chancer with my car - and was the only trailer on the market light enough. You may get away with one larger horse by taking out the partition - the only difference between the Derby and the mare and foal trailer is the partition. It has a 7' head height. It is rear load only but I have never found rear load to be a problem.

There are larger versions of my Bateson - with front unload. The Batesons also seem to be less attractive to those with light fingers.

If Chancer should grown much beyond 15 hands, a Bateson will be my choice.

batesons are by far the best trailers, open up on the left side so easy for unloading and much better quality than the foreign makes

I LOVE my H510 and so does my 16hh mare and anyone else whose ever had a lift. She's been reluctant to walk as easily into anything else including lorries and travels so well.

Wouldn't have anything else

Thanks for posting this, Im on the look out too. Im off IW as after researching it Ive read and heard that the Ali floor has a lot of play in it and although very safe some horses just dont like it, thousands do though! I think my horse is one of them that doesnt as he shook, just stood in it??? but then it could just be trailers as he has only really travelled in a wagon.
I fancied the Equitrek mainly as they travel backwards but then Ive heard awful things about them too. If money was no object I would have the Fautras Obliq plus, as they travel herringbone just like a wagon.
If I knew my horse travelled well in a trailer, I'd have a Bateson or a new Rice.
Sorry for waffling
