I think you will be inundated with replies as lots of trak fans here.
Depends on your buget mainly. If money no object go over to Germany and watch the stallion grading and auction. You will have access to the top trakehner studs and youngstock.
If you want to buy British got to the trakehner breeders fraternity website and look for studs such as holme park, bluewood (They have the gorgeous Axis though he is in Germany), woodcroft etc
oh and chronicle of the horse recently had a list of top dressage stallions - competing at GP and above. It had a seperate part for traks if your looking for bloodlines!!! Gribvaldi is prob the hot sire just now re Totalis his son and his recent success. Gribaldi and Kostolany line have always been v successful and Gribalidi v popular in Holland (though he is a purebred trak 1st and foremost). Consider Sixtus and his sons & grandsons - Axis, King Authur, Buddenbrock. Summertime and gestut sommerlade have a nice website and stallions. Alsdo chronos - I couild keep going. Also see trakehners international website
Krug is a very nice stallion with nice youngstock. His stock have done particularly well in the showring at TBF shows - including the 3rd generation graded stallion Legend. Krug is a real sweetie in the box but still a proper 'man'. He does seem to pass on a nice temprement. If you pick a youngster from one of the premium mares at HP/HG then you won't go too far wrong. BUT - if you want a big mover for dressage then I do not think he is the sire for you unless the mareline is exceptional (and they do have some exceptional mares but depends on wheteht the best ones sold as foals) . But on that I think it is easier to get a very big moving hann or DWB than a trak - though the younger more modern ones have the higher, rounder movement in front favoured more in current dressage. Also the canter on the trak can be very nice.
For an extravegant mover perhaps look at Axis and his babies or Tycoon Bluewoods other stallion. Also, to be very honest I think if you want a big mover you may need to look at some German lines - Woodcroft import traks and often have some nice ones for sale.
You may not want a big mover - I don't any more, I would rather have a 'nice person'. All of these studs will give you good customer service and they have some lovely horses who will do well at dressage.
Holme Park do great DVD's of their open day. Just e-mail them and they wil pop one i the post asap for you
iv been looking at Holme Park Krug....any opinions??

I bought my now four year old Trakehner from Susan as a foal. She is by Holme Grove Solomon and is out of one of their Premium graded mares. She was my first foal and i have been very pleased with her. Susan couldn't have been more helpful when i was making my choice. I spoke to her at length before going down to visit the two studs and watched the DVD many times too. When i went down, Susan had all the time in the world for me and the stallions all looked extremely relaxed. I have now seen Krug on a number of occasions and his temperament is second to none. If you're interested, give Susan a call, she's really lovely and will happily chat Trakehners all day.
Here's my baby:
Movement wise, im very happy with mine. She is my first trakehner (Ive always had Irish bred horses) and i am always in awe at how she moves. Im not sure how she would compare with her German couterparts but having compared her with some other very well bred youngsters in this country i feel they didn't even come close to her in both movement and quality!
Hope this helps, and if you need to know any more, feel free to ask!
Benjis girl, your trak is beautiful!!
I have a beautiful girl by King Arthur and out of a premium graded mare by Finley M who is also GP dressage.
I absolutely love her, she is def my horse of a lifetime. She has huge movement and so much power I have trouble containing it sometimes!
She is a lovely person and really loves people, but is a typical trak in that she can be very sharp at times. Not really for the faint hearted! They are very intelligent which can work for and against you.
Good luck in finding your horse, I am having a lot of fun with mine, and am a huge traky fan now.
