Best treatment for arthritis

My old boy is suffering but he won't retire happily. He's not very lame but not 100% (in front) either - when circling but only to the left.

So looking for a brilliant joint supplement and the best pain relief other than giving bute.

What are you guys giving your veterans?

My elder pony has a bit of arthritis in his front legs, i used to use no bute however i have now got him on cortaflex buteless and cortaflew powder and i seems to have worked very well.

My Friesian was diagnosed with arthritis in both coffin joints. I have put him on Suppleaze Gold by Aviform. It is a very reasonable supplement, buy two get one free and after a month I have noticed a remarkable difference. A friend who is an equine lecturer at Warwickshire College researched all the joint supplements and found this to have levels comparitive with Cortaflex but for a fraction of the price. My daughter has a mare who at the age of 14 was coming out of stable stiff, used leg wraps and not looked back like a 5yr old. Friend use rug on cold backed horse and has not looked back she forgot to put it on other day and there was a huge difference in him

If your horse has arthritis keep him in straight lines and avoid circles as this will only aggrevate the problem.. Put him on some linseed (powdered form) as it will act as an anti-inlamatory

Another one thumbs up for Suppleaze Gold - also their devil's claw formula is excellent (mobileze I think it's called.) I always found Cortaflex worked with my boy.
