So, I have never shown before - big help needed!

My mare has been off for a few months, but has been happily back in work for a few weeks so I thought it would be nice to take her to a local show. She gets bored just hacking and gentle schooling, so thought a day out would be nice!

As she is only recently back in work jumping classes are out (ooh, and I'm a massive nervous idiot!) so I thought we could do best turned out.

I was thinking of giving her, me and our tack a super clean and then turning out as if we were doing a dressage test - plaited, white saddle cloth, no martingale; me in black jacket (I know blue is more correct, just didn't know that when I got my jacket!), white shirt and white stock, brown leather gloves, beige breeches, spurs and long boots.

Any tips would be great - already have the baby wipes on hand for bottom of boot wipes!

My mare is grey (and loosing her summer coat so isn't v sheeny at the moment!) I'm not sure if it would make any difference to give her quater marks and sharks teeth as you couldn't really see them, but if it is correct then we can.

Thank you!!

Sounds good - except maybe a numnah that doesn't show under the saddle instead of the white saddle cloth, if you want to be correct rather than just showing off that Persil does the whitest whites?

Enjoy!

if your showing you need to be dressed according to your horses type,i.e. show hunter, hack etc etc. rather than the discipline you compete in.

ok, small brown numnah then instead of saddle cloth.
In terms of type - she is a bit between riding horse and hunter. So I was going (I guess) for hunter turnout - plain flat havanah bridle with laced reins and a gp, with her being plaited as she isn't an m&m.
Hope that's right!

Afraid not, just black jacket and white stock - if I don't have a tweed would I be better pretending she is a riding horse and putting her in a ribbon browband?
