I'm looking for a couple of new turnout rugs for my cob. He is 15.1hh and not particularly broad shouldered. He currently has a Masta which he came with which is ripped. I want to pay no more than £70 and ideally less than that. I've had a search online and come across the following:

Masta Aztec Medium Light 90g for around £70
Masta Check Tech Medium light, around £50-60 but out of stock in a 6'3
I've also found some bargains on 170g Masta turnouts so not sure whether to get one of these for very cold days or whether it would be too heavy (he can live out all year with no rug but we are in a fairly high up and exposed spot)

Weatherbeeta Landa 100g around £55

Shires Stormbreaker 100g around £55

Fal Warrior 40g Turnout (too light?) around £60.

Any recommendations? I'm looking for the hardyest rug possible as our fields are very rugged and have lots of bushes, brambles etc.

Thanks, just looked a Premier Equine do a 40g for £60.

I'm not sure which to go for? At the moment I'm thinking the FAL Warrior plus one other. Any other opinions.

I have the FAL warrior 40g and the Shires Stormbreaker 100g and I love them both! Would defo recommend them :)

Oh cool :) Since last night the FAL has gone out of stock on equestrian clearance in the size I need so going to have a look online and see if I can find somewhere else where they're in stock! Do you find there's much difference in the thickness between your two rugs as I read somewhere the FAL are actually deceptively thick/warm and pretty much like a 100g rug anyway? Are they true to size btw? Thanks

They feel similar to me thickness wise, and my boy has always been cosy in both. Sizewise Id say they are pretty true, maybe even come up a little big? He takes a 6'6 in weatherbeeta and masta and gets away with a 6'3 in both the FAL and shires (and horsewear).

Premier Equine, FAL or Weatherbeeta. Don't touch Shires and definitely don't even utter the word "Masta" (horrible, square-shaped rugs!)

I'd personally go for whichever is cheapest of those three, in your situation - unless you've had one of those makes before and know they fit, in which case go for that make.
