I need new stirrups for my jumping saddle and would like safety ones, but which type do you like? the bent ones? the elastic band ones?

thanks!

'Elastic band' ones (Peacocks) are not designed for adults and whilst you will see plenty of people using them they really are not designed for adult weights. I have used bent leg irons for the last 10 years after two people got killed in one week riding out race horses (two different locations, totally unconnected apart from they both got caught up in the stirrups). Interestingly enough the British Racing School favours the bent leg iron over any sort of safety stirrup and their riders would be light enough for Peacocks.

I have recently bought the Sprenger bow balance stirrups (pretty sure they are meant to have some safety mechanism- will have to go back and read the description!) They are also great for your joints- I recently had knee surgery and they def help relieve a bit of the pressure. Quite pricey but I would def recommend them! :)
