Just reading a bit of the PSSM thread and not wanting to derail it.
What is the best way to feed vitamin E?
I know Equimins was considered good but also remember users finding out it was synthetic.
Is that still the case? Is it still a good brand to try?
Is there anything I’d need to feed alongside or not feed for maximum benefit?

Equimins liquid vit E is synthetic, which means that you have to use double the amount to get the desired effect. The fuss was that it was being sold as natural...

Instead, buy natural vitamin e oil (which is actually a powder ?) from Forageplus or Pro Earth.

Forageplus vit E works out cheaper of the two per daily dose in use.

I use the Forage Plus one. My horse doesn't show signs of PSSM but my instructor suggested i try it as horse was very lean despite a lot of high quality feed. What a difference in a month!! He has put on weight but also muscle and feels so much stronger

Mine too, I started a thread about him earlier this year. I have now dropped almost all his hard food and he's keeping weight on easily. 2000iu a day and he's right as rain.

I use the ForagePlus powder.
The natural version is stronger smelling so if you have a fusspot like one of mine it may be worth trying the synthetic version for a refusenik ( cost per dose is the same)

I have had a similar issue!! Except mine also looked very sad and depressed - just didn't look like he wanted to live life anymore. I use FP natural vit e. Makes a huge difference in a matter of 1-2 weeks. Vet noticed a difference the first time I put him on it. Then I accidentally forgot to buy more and within 1-2 months he looked weak, sad, etc. Put him back on and had a much perkier and stronger horse. So said horse can't come off of it....

My vitamin E deficient horse (blood testing, his levels don’t respond well to supplements, on 8000iu of nano e his blood levels were still low) is on the forage plus one, he’s super fussy and wouldn’t eat it to start with so introduce in very small amounts and build up if yours is similar.

Forage plus or progressive Earth, both good. If feeding synthetic form you need to feed twice as much to have the same effect as natural.

I feed a forage balancer that contains 3,000ui of vitamin E.
