Suggestions for a balancer or similar as an all round supplement for two unridden, one semi retired and one ridden (but not in heavy work). I’m reducing calorie intake with a bare paddock, reduced/soaked/small holed hay in an attempt to manage weight. I’m starting to see results but so want to make sure they get their vits/minerals. All the commercial balancers are soooo expensive to feed 4 horses so anyone making their own basic blend or recommendations for something not too expensive? Thanks

Forage plus hoof and skin winter balancer is very good as low iron and has vitamin E.
It is a good balancer, but it's expensive and the vitamin E in it is only synthetic, not natural, so half as effective as natural. It's a bug bear of mine that Forageplus don't make that clear - they know full well the difference between the two as they sell both versions of vit E.

I emailed them to ask, as have others, and the vit E is synthetic.
