Best way to clean white cotton (string) hunt gloves?

Am terrified of shrinking them (brand new pair) but can't seem to shift stains from a very wet and muddy day out last Saturday... have soaked in stain remover and also non-bio detergent but not proving entirely successful. Any advice greatly welcomed!
 
Ecover do a super-gentle bleach too - marketed as the most gentle one except sunshine! I've even used it on coloured cottons (albeit not gloves)
