Encourage a collection of pus to burst. Had the vet out today and they think the swelling on my horses fetlock is a cyst/ infection so hes on bute and antibiotics for a week. It had burst before but vet said if it goes again to try and squeeze out the rest- ew. Anything I can do to encourage this to happen? lol

Hot-tubbing draws it out nicely, get a bucket of hot water (hot enough so that you can just about keep your hand in it) and put the foot in it for 15mins. Do this 3 times a day and you can add salt to the water if you like. This works very very well for abcesses in the hoof, not sure about fetlocks but it certainly won't do it any harm. Good luck!

Delicious! I would use a warm flannel or something. If the horse is on antibiotics, there wont be a lot to squeeze out after a few days.

Hot poltice thats what the vet suggested to me when my mare had any lumps that needed things drawing out of them...

hope it helps!

In a similar situation, my vet recommended wrapping hot towels around the area.
Soak towel in hot water, wring out, make sure not boiling, wrap around. When cooled off, re-soak and re-apply. Ten minutes as often as possible.

I would suggest hot tubbing as has been described above. My vet said to do this to draw an abbess out of my pony's hoof.
