So my car decided to conk out on me today in a mahoosive puddle and i had to push it out. Turns out my mountain horse boots arnt waterproof (although the do a very good job of keeping the water in!!) and since the water was up to my knees they're sodden.

Whats the best way to dry them out without killing them? I've brought them indoors and left them in the bathroom which gets warm but not hot and put the inflatable boot shaper thingys in them but should i stuff them with newspaper or something? OH suggested usingmy tack conditioner stuff on them but should i wait untill they've dried out?

Will forward this thread to my daughter after she left my long leather Mountain Horse boots out in the pouring rain over night this week - grrrrrrrrrr!

PLEASE Remove them from the radiator - unless your heating has been turned off for a week!!!

Stuff with newspaper - then keep changing this for dry every morning and eve....
moving on - when very very nearly there - try the cat litter - a nifty little trick.

When dry rub in some conditioner, then some more,,,,

Whatever you do, don't put them anywhere near a radiator! I ruined a pair of leather walking boots like this - they dried out too quickly and cracked so badly that they were unuesable.
Dry them slowly with either newspaper or cat litter in tights and change it regularly. They need to be somewhere warm but NOT near direct heat.
Only when thoroughly dry give them many, thin coats of leather conditioner/treatment until they can't take any more.
I learned my lesson the hard way with my walking boots and now an really careful with my leather riding boots - I won't make the same mistake twice!
