Anyone have any tips to start BE? I really want to start eventing but my horse is very spooky, would experience be the best way forward?

Do some hunter trials or get a few xc lessons to practice a course and then have a go. Try a few unaffiliated events first to give your horse experience of a course. Experience should help with the spookiness. It's a good idea to start competing at a smaller height than you're used to jumping.

Try and go to different cross country courses in your area so they get used to seeing lots of different things. Popping logs and ditches out on hacks is handy if you've got them, as well making them go through puddles and water where you can

Practice, as above. Start small and always be practicing at home over larger fences than you are going to meet at a competition and make sure the horse and rider are fit enough! Are you in a Riding Club? Most riding clubs have instruction and the opportunity to go to different cross country courses. The riding club national competitions are quite big, but our riding club has local inter-club competitions which is a good starting point.

Spookey is not a problem . It just shows you have a smart horse who sees everything , you just need to work on him trusting you ,that you ARE IN CONTROL . It all comes with experience , getting out and doing as much varied stuff as possible. Hunter trials are great as a start . You dont need a great name of an instructor to start ,you just need someone who has done it and knows the ropes and is still wildly enthusiastic. Remember , most horses consider a BE 80 a trip hazard rather than jumping , they just need to tuck their legs up and they are over . AND ENJOY IT , IT IS MEANT TO BE FUN!
