Anyone know the bst way to hand wash stable rugs?
I have acsess to a jet wash, a hose and shampoo?!

Anything that wont fit in my twin tub bought new especially for horse stuff gets hung over a fence and power washed with just water. Does a very acceptable job too. I also used to scrub with a stable brush on the concrete before that. Got so many rugs and ponies I cant afford to send them all to the rug wash.

I decided a few years ago that I was paying too much for rug cleaning. I have a large container, like a water butt. I soak the rugs for 24 hours in warm water, and non-bio wash liquid. Once soaked I will hang on fence and either jet wash or hose. Most rugs do come really clean.

As above really. I refuse to pay for rug cleaning. I have an old bath. Warm water, baby shampoo, soak for an hour then tread rug like grapes every now and then for another half hour. Really loosens the mud and muck.
Chuck over fence and jet wash, does a really good job.
Have found using baby shampoo doesn't affect the waterproofing. Only re proof every 2 or 3 years with a paint on job. Some of my rugs are over 10 years old.

Jet wash combined with scrubbing brush works wonders on the horrible white grease inside and the lovely poo on the outside. I do my stable and turn out rugs no problem, nice sunny day and a couple of gos and I've saved myself £25!
