I've tried suncream and he reacted badly to it, I'm trying a human support bandage at the moment which is great some of the time, but can slip down. I need something lightweight, preferably breathable and UV-proof - what do you all use?

Thanks!

What about turn out boots? I had some nice ones from shires that covered my horses legs from the hock down to the hoof. Didnt slip or move but wernt tight on her leg either.

Sudocrem , or Tesco cheap version of it. Full of zinc oxide, which is what the cricketers put on their faces to stop sunburn. The real stuff smells gorgeous too!

Equilibrium actually do sell sun boots designed for this! (dont think they are called sun boots but look on the web site!!)

Another vote for sudocrem, I use it on my mares nose. Tried sun cream and it made her hair fall out and nose looked very pink - think she was allergic to it. Sudocrem is nice and thick so stays on better and has done a brilliant job.

Thanks for all of these. I'm going to have a look at the boots. I've used Sudocrem a lot in the past, but he seems to have started reacting to it aswell now. He has this pattern of a cream appearing to do lots of good for a few weeks, then suddenly it starts irritating him. I've gone through quite a few different ones, and at the moment we are on some pro-equine stuff for a few days, then savlon for a few days, in the hope that the variation will stop or at least postpone the odd reaction he seems to get to everything eventually. I'm not sure even sure it's the sun, we've had pretty gloomy weather for most of the summer....
