Hi, im moving my boy home next week, he's been at another yard for about 9 months, I moved him because he was being so naughty and started napping etc at home, he's now really well behaved and hack out on his own etc. I dont want him to revert to being a little so and so when I get home, so whats the best thing to do?
Shall I ride him the same day I take him back or the next day, so he knows he's not come home to relax? and what if he goes straight back to napping and rearing?
Any tips would be great, cheers.

If he starts again then you need to be very firm and give him a damn good telling off as clearly he can behave

and dont give in until you have won the battle(obviously if he rearing vertical then rethink the situation),i would put him straight into a routine of being ridden and take no nonsense from him AT ALL!Dont give him an inch to take the proverbial, make sure you are at him all the time and he knows you mean business!
Hope it all goes well!

continue in the same vein as now. turnout for same hours feed as same work as same , be prepared and insist on good manners from the start! (with everything!!) if anything work harder, feed a bit less and be stronger and relax as days go by providing said beast is doing his share of the equation.

Ditto "ofcourseyoucan". Keep everything as low key and normal as possible. If you don't stress about it neither will he. Good luck!

I would pretty much get straight on when you get to your new/old yard - it should really be no different than going to a show, in the sense that you want him to immediately accept his new/old surroundings and work as he has been doing at 'home'.

I always ride my horse if I ever move yards straight away, just gets them immediately settled and doesn't give them a chance to get all silly about being in a new place.

I hope he goes well for you back home.
