Hi all

So having decided to sell my horse, would like some advice on how best to go about it. (He was hunting this season before I bought him, so am aiming for that market as this is where he excells).

Have decided to send him on sales livery but do you think it is best to sell him 'from the hunting field' so's to speak or so I still need to advertise (and if so where?).

thanks:)

For hunters, the good ones are usually sold through word of mouth via the hunt. Contact your local hunt secretary, they will point you in the right direction.

A good hunter that is fit for all day and has manners to burn is priceless and will be snapped up readily. :)

IME anyone looking for a hunter now wants something fit and ready to go - preferably out and viewable on the hunting field

the market seems to be for safe and sensible..... who did your horse hunt with? Will he queue for a jump? will he pop a hunt jump safely and quietly? Is he a snaffle mouth (or containable in something reasonably civilised? lol!)

I know lots of people looking and that's what they seem to want - best of luck selling him!

As previously mentioned, the best hunters are sold word of mouth within the hunt and never get advertised :)

Thanks everyone, they will take him hunting on sales livery (one of the reasons I have put him there, as I don't hunt) so hope fully word of mouth will work then, but will advertise just in case!
p.s as far as I know the answer is yes to all the above and with the Bicester

Rachel Matheson sells a lot of good hunters - I put a horse for sale with her and found her to be very honest and they treated the horse well. Reasonable rates and she is lovely. Based in Oxfordshire near Witney - the yard is called Tawneys Farm and they list on Horsequest - do a search on dealers and scroll down till you find her.
