Best way to split diesel costs??

I have been asked to compete 2 horses this season for two friends and I'm wondering what other people do to split costs? As I just fill the lorry to the top when it needs it and not before every journey. Iv heard some take the mileage and say £1 per mile then split between how many horses were in the lorry? Or is there a better way? Thanks for ur views in advance!!

I would work out you cost per mile to include wear and tear as well as diesel. I have heard a few people charge a £1 mile I think we worked out about 80p and split between whoever coming on lorry.
