My 7 month old puppy really needs to stop doing this. I ignore him when I walk in the door and it seems to be working, but OH and other people seem to have a problem putting this into practice despite my nagging ????

Any other ideas ?

Be damned if I know! I own a lab who weighs around 35kg of muscle who insists on launching herself at me everytime she sees me. Doesn't do it on anyone else!!

Really go mad on OH and don't let others near him til you'ver told them not to react and to walk through the dog, ignoring. Insist on OH getting the dog to sit every time he sees him. Tempting to see it as cute, dog is pleased to see me thing, dodgy in the extreme when small kid/feeble old aged grandparent has leg broken by huge grown dog leaping like a salmon at their face!

You are getting results, and clearly ding what your should be, the proble then lies with the encouragement form others, I would be firm or say dont stroke him at all your are encouraging bad behaviour, its all fun when they are young pups but its not so great when they are adults.

I find the best way is to teach the sit and get them sitting on command reliably. When they sit on command they get praise, pats, and treats. Alsowhen they start to jump up I hold my hand up, palm out and stiff, step back and tell them NO or NO JUMP in a very firm voice. That often deters them. If they persist in jumping up they bonk themselves on my palm and give themselves a negative reiforcement.
