Best way to store tack that won't be used?

I have a very nice bridle that I won't be using for a while, what is the best way to store this?

I cleaned/fed it about two months ago and is now covered in mould. I'm going to clean the mould off with a warm damp sponge.

Is it best to use Ko - Cho - Line leather dressing or can I use neats foot oil (which I already have).

I'm going to take the bridle apart and wrap it loosely in newspaper and stuff it under the bed (the joys of v.little storage space!)
 
wipe the mold off with a solution of milton(for stelilzing babies bottles),make sure it is dry then treat with ko-cho-line and then wrap in newspaper.
 
What ratio?

Could I use Dettol instead of Milton.

I don't Ko cho line and would rather get away with something else. The bridle is the only tack I personally own.
 
You can use just a cloth dunked in hot water and wrung out. You don't want to store it in oil. Ko-cho-line is not expensive and well worth buying a tub if you want to keep your bridle nice. As Cahill said, cover in ko-cho-line and wrap in newspaper.

I swear by effax cleaner (it gets anything off) then the leather oil (I like the liquid one).

I've got one which I wrapped in newspaper when its all taken apart and then put in a plastic bag and tied up the plastic bag, its been in storage for about 3 years and it is fine! Hope this helps.
 
I used Kocholine on my saddle 3 weeks ago and it's got white mold/mildrew growing on the cantle already. It's hung in the tack room and is the only one going funny.
