Hi, I'm about to put down my new Aubiose bed and I was wondering a) how many bales people use to start a new bed and b) how you manage it (i.e. full muck out or semi-deep litter). Thank you

I've never used auboise (well apart from with the chickens!), but have used paille de lin which is similar.

Depends on how big your box us, but I used enough to make a 3-4in layer (this is on concrete, you may not want that deep on mats), then took out the poo twice a day and any obvious wet. Then dug the main wet out at the weekend. I also only topped up once a week, at the weekend, and it was normally one full bale - but Blitz was a right messy b*gger, even as a foal, so if your horse is neat, you could probably get away with less :)

I love auboise, and considering it is a French product, you hardly see it over here, and then it is really expensive. If I could get my hands on it, it would be my bedding of coice. I loved it for the chooks.
