The thing I hate most is trying to stay impassive when I get home so that I don't wind the dogs up and risk causing separation problems. If I was coming back from war though I think I would make a huge exception!

our old bitch D used to be a bit like that with my Mum she used to go all high pitched when she sensed her arrive at our friend's house where she used to stay if we went on hols, you could hear her for miles

Matty sings when we come back from hols and it goes on for ages. She just sits next to me singing!!
That dog was so pleased to see her Dad home. I felt quite emotional.

I hate to think what Otto would do in the same situation, given that his standard welcome is just about on a par with that!

I have to be away for a few days to get that kind of welcome, then he sulks after the initial joy is over

I only have to go to the loo, when I come out again I get an all-singing, all-dancing (literally) welcome, the needy rat that he is!

The labs are much more welcoming. My aunt stated the last time she watched them greet me that 'it must be nice to feel so loved'

I get a welcome home dance from Popple if I just go out for an hour

No yappying though, thankfully.

Henmeister - I agree with you - I get that welcome every time I come out the loo too so I dread to think what she'll be like when I go back to uni!!!!
