I'm looking to buy my (non-horsey) mum wellies for Christmas and wondered what people rate these days. I have a pair of hunters but they never seem to last like they used to.

For sheer functionality Dunlop Purafort are the ones to go for.

They are not 'fashion-y' or stylish in any way but in my opinion their authenticity makes up for it

Cannot agree more they are relatively light and very robust outlast anything else on the farm.

I agree, not hunter wellies! I have a pair, neoprene lined, which are letting in water after only a year of light use.

My Muck Boot Tynes (now called Colt Ryder) have been fantastic - comfy and toasty warm, still waterproof too.

I love my Aigle Parcours Iso (the "Iso" bit means they're neoprene lined, you can get plain Aigle Parcours without the neoprene) They're not cheap but mine are 5 years old now and are pretty much as good as new. They're certainly not 10 times the price of my last pair of hunters but they have lasted 10 times as long!

The neoprene lining means they're nice and warm in winter and, technically, they're a "rubber walking boot" not wellies so they have nice supportive insoles and good grippy soles.

That's what I have the Le Chameau ones are nicer in the leg but the foot bed in parcours is miles better .
They are however seriously warm to warm for me unless the weather is bad .

They are very warm, but so comfy. Maybe try the ones without the neoprene lining if you want to wear them over summer OP.
Le Chameau's look lovely but too narrow in the leg for my chunky calves. If you have narrower calves though they may be a better fit.

Have the Aigle ISO. Not sure they are as good as they used to be, but very comfortable.

Dunlops tough as old boots (boom boom) but not very good for walking in.

I'm now into my 4th year with my Bekina wellies. They have been brilliant, have good grip and they do different styles. Mine are steplites which are a little short in the leg but that's their only fault

I always reply to these wellie threads like a rep for Muck Boots as mine are awesome!

I have Colt Ryders which are comfortable, super toasty without needing millions of socks, and you can ride in them too.

I also have a pair of green steel toed ones, but I can never remember what they're called. Also Muck Boots and also great.

If non horsey I got my other half some Joules 'men's' (not sure there's a huge gender difference) ones for gardening, chicken cleaning, dog/child walking and they have a super tread on the bottom, are comfy and warm and like new in year 2. I have my old pair of hunters 'made in Scotland' now 12 years old :-o looking a bit ropey but still water tight. Such a shame they aren't what they used to be.

I bought a pair off eBay and thick socks. Not trusting the brand names anymore as they seem to break easily and end up not keeping water out which is the whole point. Plus finding ones that fit my big calves is difficult and I refuse to spend £70 on wellies.

I think if she's non horsey and only wearing them like a regular person to walk dogs or whenever normal people wear wellies then you can go for personal choice or what looks nice as generally even Hunters last ok without heavy horsey use.
I live my Chemeau ladies cotton lined ones though. I'm not keen on the more expensive ones with the big buckle adjuster these ones are more fitted and just nice!
