Hey guys

When I tried out my horse the stirrups she had on the saddle felt so amazing that I actually emailed her afterwards to ask what they were! They were Royal Riders. They had a fantastic wide cheesegrater tread/footbed. They just felt so stable and solid.

Now they are kinda expensive for my liking so does anyone have a good more affordable alternative that would give the same feel?

Cheers x

I have never ridden in royal riders stirrups so I cant give an honest comparison, But I used to these (I left them in a lorry park somewhere!) shires ones and I quite liked them. I felt like I had a lot of grip on the treads:

At HOYS I was looking for a replacement pair and came across these:

They had a much wider cheese grater tread than the previous ones I had (look like the Royal riders ones), I don't know why I didn't buy them!

Cheers for your reply :)

I've just sold a pair of these as they didn't feel the same as the Royal Rider ones and I wasn't keen :s

They look almost identical to the ones you saw at HOYS

On eBay they have some black lactic ones composti I think they are called?? I have the ones with the back pivoting tread and they are very nice!

I have the royal riders and they are nearly ten years old! Adore them. Also have the shires composti ones, and my new faves are the jin copies on eBay made by amidale

I am saving for freejump ones, having borrowed a saddle one day and had the joy of using them. I am normally the person who snorts at people who have to have the most expensive newest bestest things to make them ride better.. But these actually work!!!
In the meantime i got a pair of black plastic ones with a big wide tread off equestrian clearance for £35...

Are these the ones you got off Equestrian Clearance:

Are they comfy? And grippy?
