So...advice on 2 fronts please

Can anyone recommend a really good cream/gel/spray etc for healing an abrasion...silver spray is doing OK but I can't help thinking it should be healing faster than it is.

And any suggestions re reducing scar tissue on a leg too please. Just wondering if there is something I can apply/rub in to help flatten it

Aloe vera gel is very good for penetrating the layers of the skin, because its water-based. Its used for skin burns/cuts for its anti-inflammatory/cooling effect and antibacterial properties on fresh cuts. It doesnt sting either so good for sore areas to cool them.
Because it soaks in so well, healing deep layers of skin, it tends to reduce scarring.

The only thing to be careful of with aloe vera gel, is using it on large areas of bare flesh that will have full sunlight exposure. It has some photosensitivity properties, and could cause very sore exposed fleshy wounds to become irritated. Cloudy days wont affect it so much. If a horse had a large bare patch on their face, back, sides and were out in the summer sun, there is a risk of photosensitive irritation. But for long cuts mainly hidden by their hair, it’s fine to use.

(i found this out years ago when i used it on my badly sunburnt face and arms and went out in the sun the next day, causing small watery blisters to appear!)

For old scar tissue, apparently snail slime cream is effective…but vitamin A oil (retinol) is the more popular cure for scars.

Vitamin E oil is supposed to reduce scarring, it's in Bio Oil. I mix a bit of vitamin E powder that I give the horse into sudocrem and use it once it's healed.
