Hey guys

What are your recommendations for best XC boots?

Something that doesn't hold water and is preferably a bit breathable would be good. Protection is the most important factor.

Cheers

New Equine Wear (N.E.W) Maximum Performance (although I think they recently changed the name) boots. They are lined with a really thick fleece, so not technically "waterproof", however the lining prevents any grit/foreign bodies getting up inside them and also stops them slipping. I always used to swear by ProLite but they just don't fit my new boy properly and he got quite a nasty rug from them

N.E.W Lightweight Competition Boots - Ive had mine about 3 years and they're brilliant, still look brand new and I use them regularily for Novice BE XC. Theyve never slipped, dont hold water and are really protecting without being solid. Very highly recommended.

We use Anky wraps - expensive though, and I don't actually particularly like them, especially not the look! I'm about to invest in some prolites.

I bought Tri-Zone Cross Country boots and they're brill

Easy to put on, don't slip even when the Dizzy one scratches her head on them, are vented to help keep legs cool, can go through water and mud and wash off easily. I likes and the Dizz likes (she'd let me know if she didn't

I spent ages researching all the different boots

. I needed ones that would offer the best protection to the Dizzy donkey (16.3hh DW with long legs and little idea of where they are most of the time ;o). I wanted all round protection, easy to care for, sized so the fit would be good, good fasteners that would not come undone at the wrong moment, and keep her legs as cool as posible taking into account the fact that we wouldn't necessarily be going at the speed of sound(!).

The only downside is the price

, but they have just come down by about £10 per set.
