Best XC gloves - especially in the wet!

Having seriously struggled in the rain at Goring Heath this weekend with Roeckl (sp??) gloves and rubber reins i need some recommendations please!

Which gloves are best for XC? Which ones really stand up in the rain? Does it also help which reins you have?

Macwets! Fantastically grippy Really are fab gloves...

MacWets all weather gloves! the racing ones with the white backs....all the jockeys use them they are fab!

macwets and pimpley rubber reins, not worn out smooth ones!

and a how not too, half leather/half suede Albion dressage reins bare hands and torrential rein = no grip what so ever!!!!

Macwets - they are fantastic and they are the only ones to keep grip on my worn rubber reins!

Another one for Macwets, I wear SSG's most of the time and Macwets for when its wet - they are very good and not stiff gloves which are my pet hate.

Another for MacWets. Did Urchinwood in the pouring rain a couple of weeks ago and the wetter the gloves were, the more they gripped!

I second these, probably the best gloves I have ever bought, the whole yard are converted now! Just wish I could get some more in smaller sizes

I think macwets are pants IMO! Last hardley any length of time. I would go for ariat gloves every time, last a long time nice and comfy and not to expensive!

Find a lot of grip comes down to your reins. I the material type reins with inter twined rubber (although a lot of the rubber has worn away) and no matter what the weather I have never had grip issues and I normally wear either ssg or rokel gloves.

I hate normal rubber reins though with a passion they are far too bulky. All bridles bar doubles seem to come with them these days. I sold five pairs recently that I never use!!

I'm in the states. Never heard of Macwets, will have to look them up. I have found that Neuman Tackifed gloves are the best. Around $39, I used mine everyday and with that heavy use they last me 1 to 1 1/2 years. They actually get stickier when they get wet, but they are pretty grippy all the time. In fact I had started driving in regular SSG leather gloves last fall when I misplaced the Neumans. Hadn't replaced them until recently, and was very surprised that I didn't like the Neumans any more, they were TOO sticky, but I drive with the rubber web reins so maybe the combination was just to much. I find they are great for marathon though, when your reins get wet going through water and you typically need ALOT of grip while running hazards.

Think there is just 1 sort of Macwets with a long or short cuff, about £27 but worth it!

For reins Eventa smooth reins are brill very very grippy, also Jeffries Wembley pimple reins as they are so flexible right from new.
