Just wondering if anyone has any reccomendations on foot wear for the winter. I work on a yard and ideally they need to be suitable for riding as well as working on the yard, and also keep my feet warm! I do a lot of walking too so they need to be relatively comfy, although i don't mind sticking a gel pad in them.

I have just bog standard jod boots and i've been here 2 months and there destroyed as well as my feet!

Ariat grasmeres are the dogs do dars by all accounts :D Ive just bought myself some cheap look alikes but if i was working at a yard and had to spend all day in boots i would get a pair. I will say always have a pair of wellies, while boots like that are great you cant beat a pair of wellies for really wet and muddy conditions, plus it saves you Ariats. I would refuse to walk through knee high mud in boots that expensive and if i did i would clean them without fail but im a bit tight like that :D

Having tried every different type of boot I can safely say Ariat would be my only choice, if I couldnt afford them I would buy them second hand instead of any other make, I have had 2 pairs of bromonts for riding and they are by far the best, most comfortable pair I have had...ever!

(not the awful leaf pattern ones!) )

ew theyre mank!

I tried some of these on and they are gorgeously warm, I might have some myself.
I do yearn for some Ariats but Im reluctant to spend that much money as Im really hard on boots as Im on the go in them all the time. Going to have to bite the bullet and get some and see how they last me, hopefully they wont fall apart in no time and have me cursing the expense :D

Why anyone would want muckboots with a leaf pattern and a flourescent orange inside is above and beyond me! They also only cost me £40 or so I think, much better value than Ariats. Not quite so attractive but hey ho Im a student :D

I have ariat bromonts and ariat chaps (both of which i love) but i'm not sure i want to traps about in mus in anything with an ariat badge on it, plus what shoe do ariat make that would be suitable for walking round on the yard all day everyday as well as riding? I guess i could get some wellies for muddy days (i did have some but some moron stole them...)

I wear my ariats around on the yard all day and ride in them. Best boots ever! I bought my first pair second hand from Ebay, and have just bought a bargain pair of new ones which I am saving for when mine eventually die. Have tried a couple of similar boots, but after a day on my feet Ariats seem to be the only ones that don't give me sore feet.

Have also got some Ariat Mudbusters for when I actually have to wade through mud :)

I SWEAR by my long woof wear boots, they are fleece lined and so cosy in winter, i don't think they are designed for winter although they do have bits on the inside to act almost as protectors if you were to ride. I didnt find a problem with riding in them! Not too expensive either

Ariat Grasmeres.

I wear them every day to ride/muck out/yard chores/walk the dogs, everything. Totally worth the money, I've had mine years. They're warm and fully waterproof too.

Just Togs Mudruckers - not the most elegant boots, but they're incredibly warm, comfortable and waterproof. Comfy to ride in too (if you get the riding boot version). I love mine!

Got myself some Equitectors at Blair...worn them every day since then. So far: lots of thumbs up, as many as available!

I got the short lace-up boot in brown Nubuck. They're meant to be "climate-controlled" for wear in warm and cold weather, and so far, I have had neither sweaty nor frozen feet, though I'll have to report back when it gets colder. They've got a steel toe, and are meant to be for walking and riding. I pair them with a set of normal half-chaps. I was concerned if the chaps would zip all the way down at first, since the boots are a little thicker at the ankle than normal jodhpur boots, but they have stretched. The only place water can get in is at the laces.

This is the kind I got:

Muck boot Brit Colts. Best thing for mud & sloppy conditions of the fall/winter. They have a riding boot bottom, and even a spur rest. I have hiked out in them all day, including through creeks with water right up to the tops and my feet stayed dry & warm.
