Oh now this has made me mad  The reason I will never ever use Robinsons is because they cannot accept that Northern Ireland is part of the UK (whether you agree with that or not) and as such, postage to NI is the same as to mainland UK. Rideaway, EC, all the others and most ebay sellers charge exactly the same postage to all areas, which is why I use them instead.

So Paul, while you are re-jigging your website, perhaps you'd like to update your P&P section to take account of the geography of the nation?;)

Oh no I have just read the thread and have missed the free p and p code :(

Thanks paul for te replies, any chance of free p and p for me???? Pretty please :)

I will beg.

And thanks for keeping us uptodate with the problems, even though I had missed it all:)

Don't really see it's any different from charging increased P&P to the Scottish Islands really, no-one is making you buy from them. Whereas Royal Mail may not charge more, most couriers will!

Appreciate you keeping us informed of the situation Paul :)

Well, there are loads of planes and boats crossing the Irish Sea every day, and "snail mail" to NI is quite often quicker than it is between mainland addresses, and as someone who sends and receives stuff by courier all the time, no, most couriers do not charge more either actually.

No-one is making me buy from them which is why I don't! I don't buy from any company that charges more to post to NI - even if I get to the checkout before I discover the enhanced postal rates :( Perhaps if companies like Robinsons standardised their postage, they might do more business?:confused: Makes sense to me.

Having a different problem but maybe i'm just being thick
Trying to find a rug and when i click for more details the first few words are obscured by a "reviews" button. Also (again maybe just being thick) can't see wheather they are light/med/heavy weight rugs

Which part of the data protection rules does this breach?

"After refreshing the page a few times I noticed I was on other peoples accounts and trolleys and potentially had access to all their details"

If you are able to get access to other peoples details, then it's breach of confidentiality (sp)

I was online last night and although my 'basket' was not correct, I certainly didn't have access to any other accounts. Not terribly impressed that the rug and saddlecloth I wanted were going to cost me in the region of £3,500 though :D

Hi Roreach, for exactly the reasons you outlined, everyone gets £4.95 off postage, making it free for standard to the UK mainland but at least representing the same saving to everyone. We always operate 'free*' delivery offers like this, which I appreciate isn't true for everyone but we do always explain the discount and it is fair. Ideally we would charge a single delivery rate but our costs are so varied we have to pass them on - like most online retailers. Sorry.

Mulledwhine, PM me your email address and we'll identify your order from that and credit you with the £4.95 :-)

It's also important to say that we don't store, in fact we don't actually even see credit card numbers, so there's no chance of any sensitive data ever having been made available. It's the reason why we can't offer one-click ordering on the down side but on the up side, it makes us more compliant with data security protocols. Hope this reassures anyone with such concerns.
