That's a relief. Thank you for commenting :)

Hmmm interesting post. I have a claim for theft, they escaped into another field and he got taken. So will see if E&L try to get out of paying me!!

I tried to claim with E&L with my old horse when he came in from the field injured. I was told they don't cover horses when they are turned out!! Funnily enough I didn't renew with the and have been insured with the nfu ever since

Would also check out if you are a Western rider and not disclosed it to Petplan!!!!!!!!!!!!! Caused a real headache for my disabled friend who was only hacking once a week and her elderly mare developed navicular. Accused her of barrell racing her  and initially refused to pay.

E & L paid out without any issues with my previous boy who had 3 claims running at the same time. Still have my trailer insured with them.

It's nice to hear that E&L have and do pay up for some - based on their reputation, I am surprised they're still going!

As for western saddle users, my farrier was telling me earlier this week that quite a few insurance companies are refusing to pay out if people use western. His understanding is that people who are competing in western events put so much pressure on horses legs that there is a trend in leg problems (what those are, I don't know). Whilst general riding in a western saddle won't necessarily cause the same problems, it's not possible for insurance companies to ascertain how 'western' people are riding (I guess they're meaning spinning/sliding stops etc - apologies if the terms aren't 100% correct!).

Just another get out for any insurer IMO

I got this second hand, so I don't know how accurate or true this information is.
