They had a lovely time- hopefully he'll remember how much fun it all is next time and they can just keep building on it.Enjoyed watching the progress through the ditch attempts!

I always forget how odd asking a horse to jump a ditch is, because it's so out of the norm- especially as he is 8 and has jumped enough to know jumps aren't usually holes! He is very trusting though, so when Al promised nothing would eat him he took the risk I love him.....he is super
Plus he's grey......can't go wrong.....

Updates were asked for, so there'll be lots of stuff on here about him as long as his owner wants- we couldn't sell a horse, so we;re trying to make sure she knows we're looking after him and loving him as much as he could ever want. My sister is ridiculously lucky to be allowed to ride him. She has grafted it to get this far, and works ridiculous hours to be able to do it (she manages a yard of 6, rides out 4 of them a day, has another job riding up to 6 ponies twice a week and then grooms/ does the warm ups course walks with the kids at comps, rides another for someone twice a week and then does evenings in the chippie to supplement her income), and is very lucky that some people saw fit to invest in her by buying Smokey. Hopefully they'll be proved right!

Who knows, his scope and jump are genuinely gobsmacking- he canters into the fence looking cute enough, and then powers over. Nearly had Al off when she tried him, it was so powerful and rounded. But who knows with horses- he might decide tomorrow he'd rather not play. Either way, he's staying around He looks super, really lovely pics!

I'll admit, I was expecting this to sink without a trace as many of my threads in here do because I'm not so well known/ I annoy people. And, in the past, I have had problems in here with unwanted and harsh criticism of the rider (my little sister), but everyone's been so lovely I'll be brave and keep going with updates on him

He seemed to love it, which is nice. As long as he keeps loving it, he'll keep trying!
Loved how he peered down the ditch and said how scary it was, and then ate some grass in the video- when the sound is on, you can hear Al go "Not THAT scared then, monkey!"
Apparently, he has done ditches out hunting, but being on his own and the ditch being a 'BE' ditch rather than a natural one probably made it a lot scarier. Or he's a good actor Adopter

The pictures actually made me cry! It's horrible looking at then thinking 'that was my boy' but fantastic seeing him out and about doing things! He looks so happy, and as everyone has said, Al rides him so lovely!
I keep saying it, but I honestly couldn't have wished for a better home! I wish it could have been me eventing him and doing these things, but as it can't be, I'm glad it's Al.
They look like they have a great bond already, and they really so look fab together! Definitely keep the updates coming!!

They seem to be, he's such a dude. We never expected to be able to find a horse who filled the hole Bee's death left, but he's just wriggled in to everyone's hearts with his adorableness.Looking forwards to seeing you, he's gained weight already so by June he'll be a proper chubba! I think they're planning some more XC soon, so I'll try and get some proper photos
After all the horror stories you hear about buying horses on here, we have seriously hit the jackpot finding both a horse who is as lovely as can be, and an owner who just wants the best for him and was 200% honest with us!

Too many years of horrible ponies, or very green ponies, have made us pros at knowing how to start softly and then when they're just taking the piss. Have you tried lunge rope round the back of her, and a lunge rope leading her and then bribing her over with her breakfast (so not feeding much beforehand)? Often if they're a bit foodie, low resistance persistence pays off...
Bloody annoying though! Pity we can't explain to them clearly how it is literally just a hole in the ground and nothing to worry about

She's never happier than when she's riding, it's always been all she wants to do and now she's grafting it so she can. Single-minded determination I think it's called, lol.
He is a star, and loves his work. All he knows from the past 2 years is being loved and cherished, so knows he's the most special pony on the yard. Al's 2 both have this attitude as she's done the same with Reg, and so we've got some very pampered and spoilt ponies

Dinky ponies on gangly legs are very cool. It's odd seeing her on him, as her other horse, Reg, is nearing 17.2hh and is an absolute tank of a TB- you could ride him into battle!
I think it's a bit of an HHO miracle- this thread is 50+ posts long and has nothing other than happy posts and smiley people
I will definitely keep everyone updated on his adventures, he's a proper HHO horse Thank you, can't believe how well he took to everything! We were expecting at least some resistance

I remember the thread where she was trying him out to buy. Becxy- bee has done such a good job with him since then, it must be bittersweet for her to see him go, but what a fantastic home for him!

Awwh bless him! Glad hes putting more weight on, at least I know with you guys he won't end up how he was when I first bought him, and when I got him back from loan. Well, I had no reason what so ever to lie about anything. He's my horse of a lifetime, so there was no way I would ever lie so he ended up somewhere that he wasnt suitable for.
Cant wait for more pictures and videos! What a sexy pony
