I am struggling with my boy at the moment he is feeling almost every stone and his white line is open and getting stones in .he fed Alfa molasses free and her le suppliment that has mag ox seaweed rose hips and spearmint in it I ride 1.1/2 hours hacking 4 times a week and 2 x week in school 30 mins I have cavallos for front feet but I never used to need them he been bf since June but at the mo can't go far with out them any help advice appreciated a Easter egg for those who get this far I really don't want to give up on my bf journey

I'm no expert, but assuming he is turned out, it might be that the lush grass at the minute is too rich for him? Is he turned out during the day / overnight / 24:7? The sugars in the grass might be causing this?

mine was feeling every stone a few weeks back - we shortened his turnout on grass a little but it was thrush which was causing him the main problem - been treating his feet with babywipes and sudocream and he is back to normal with normal turnout again

Some barefoot horses improve when taken off the Alfa A, so it might be worth trying that. Also seaweed isn't really promoted much now as it tends to have a lot of iron in which isn't always required. Initially though, I would be taking the Alfa A out.

agree with this, also are you sure he has no thrush in his central sulcas or in any pockets on his frog?

He was on simple systems but did not think that was helping so thought I wood try alpha a .dont think there is any thrush I iodine them 3 times a week and use field paste in them in between think it's the grass have fenced him a track around the edge so hoping that helps thankyou for your help might take him off the alpha and see

Alfa molasses free is just a different preparation of alfalfa/lucerne. Could quite easily be that so maybe look to change to the hifi molasses free (if that's the route you want), or ideally something like fast fibre or similar. I would be feeding an inclusive balancer like Pro Earth or ForagePlus as they will help too :)

HiFi molasses free also contains alfalfa. You need to find a timothy chaff or Honey Chop does a chopped oat straw chaff with nothing added.

Have you tried speedi beet? My horses find it very tasty. They weren't that fussed by the oat straw chaff, but mixed in with other things they did eat it and it did slow them down. I've been wondering about trying timothy chaff next, so can't comment on it's palatability at the mo.
