BFF vizsla and Border terrier

Stanley our BT is 3 in May and George, my daughter's viz is 5 in December. You may remember that I posted back in 2017/18 because we were struggling somewhat when George came to stay and I wondered if it would ever be a happy and easy relationship. Well the good news is, for the last year or so, they are very good friends. They play together really well, Stan is still a feisty little terrier but George is very adept at keeping him "in his box" without it all getting a bit out of hand. TBH I wasn't greatly enamoured by the Viz breed, George had such high energy but was also rather needy as a young dog but now he is just a lovely easy dog and a delight to have around tbh a real credit to my daughter as he is very well trained and a delight to walk off lead and on. So a very good result all round, now all we have to do is sort out Stanley and my other daughter's young Staffie bitch. I am not confident that that will end quite so well! What challenges have you had with regard to boarding other people's dogs?

Well obviously I don’t board as I have too many of my own, but it was a similar dynamic introducing my George-terrier-with-attitude to four greyhounds/lurchers who like chasing small active dogs ?

I have to say it went better than I could have ever imagined (thank goodness!) - Ace (the biggest hound) tried repeatedly to splat George but was luckily repelled by George telling him to *** off in no uncertain terms... the other hounds pretended disdainfully that George simply did not exist ?

Believe me, I do realise how very lucky I was that it all worked out ?

Not answering OP's question but we used to say Sash the Lurcher played 'Waterloo Cup' with Poppy the border.

We can't have stepsons' Irish terrier anywhere near Pen the lab as they have declared a blood vendetta. Pen is fine with everyone else but HATES Bandit, Bandit hates most other dogs but especially Pen. MIL's younger Border terrier is not great with other dogs and met Bandit on a walk recently, luckily B was on a lead as the terrier bowled in without asking any questions. Luckliy in that way dogs have of getting their point across Trouble realised her mistake before Bandit had to actually do anything and scarpered.

Trouble is that it's hard saying no to one daughter when whe knows we have other daughter's dog so frequently but tbh I just don't trust the staffie whereas the viz was just darn hard work and we were all exhausted for the first few days until he settled a bit!

Mine weren't pals when they didn't live together, they're both mature males used to being on their own, so I'm not going to expect them to be best buds now, it wouldn't be fair and if I was stuck in the middle of a ding dong between the pair of them, it wouldn't be pretty. It's hard, but I make it work. They have their own kennel/crate/area of house/time in house. Not all people get on, dogs are no different and I don't see the point in forcing the issue.

Just be honest. My mums Staffie used to come here and it was a nightmare. I never did pluck up the courage to say anything so my dogs had to be shut away, which I hated.
