I've just had an email from the BHS about the above scheme. Aimed at people doing their stage 2 & 3 qualifications. I'll be honest, I started doing my exams ages ago (whilst a non-equine student) but have stalled a few times due to life/work/horses etc!

I just wondered if anyone had any info around why this was brought in? Are "not enough" people progressing through the system? I was back on the exams until covid hit and as an independent student (I've trained at multiple centres over the years) I found their way of administrating the assessments wasn't really geared towards people like me. It seems like things are now returning to normal, so I was wondering why introduce this and why now?

I'm hoping any insights/discussion may be useful to others in a similar situation to myself. Thanks!

@thebig I think given wider industry issues, and with a decline in exams being run this year (in part because of BHS admin costs - very little incentive to run exams if you’re having to cancel lessons to do so and pay for the privilege of doing so, own goal there!), it may well be partly to try and get people taking exams again.

£250 won’t go that far though in reality sadly - that only equates to three private lessons where I was training… but it’s a start and can’t fault them for trying!
