Sister and I own our house, yard and land jointly. We own our horses jointly, we own all the gear jointly, etc etc, I'm sure you get the picture :)
We live at the same address, however the BHS do not consider that we are family! We cannot have family membership, because according to them we do not count as family! Married people, civil partnership, yes, siblings no. I am a little miffed!

Write them a letter for publication in the magazine, it seems very unfair. However I used to have a similar problem with RC membership, you got reduced rates for a parent and child or two children in the same family even if one was an adult but no discount for a married couple. Especially frustrating now as we compete the same horse!

I think you just have to accept that's how they run their discount. Have had to join things as a member so daughter can be accompanied by a member (as she has to be for some activities, being under 16), which is equally unfair as I don't participate yet pay twice as much as she does!

Kat, thanks for that suggestion, have just e-mailed them, but hadn't thought about the magazine. Your RC seems a bit odd too. They should call it parent and child, rather than family.

Dubsie, from what I understood (but may have got it wrong) one adult and one child could be family, doesn't that work out cheaper?

It isn't parent and child they do discounted membership for families where several children compete with no parents. We know of at least one other husband and wife who compete a shared horse too.........

I think you need to join the committee and get that changed :D, or at least raise it at the AGM. Not at all keen on children being members without adult supervision, our RC insists that an adult countersign for any classes. We have social members too, none riders at a much cheaper rate.
