Do you take out extra insurance?
From what I can make out when you become a gold member it covers you.
Please correct me if I am wrong

That might be better for me at the mo as I dont have a horse (yet) to insure for vets fees!

Check the small print. For my own Horse it only covered me (public liability) riding him.......it didn't cover him if anyone else was riding him. I have a feeling it does cover you riding other Horses though with owners permission (ie if another BHS Gold member rode him it would be OK). Has a small amount of personal accident cover as well.
 
Covers you, not your horse. Covers you riding and handling other people's horses I believe. Also I think it covers you for any legal claims against you for the action of any horses you own. (Very important, and not necessarily covered on horse insurance - if your horse gets onto public highway for example and causes a fatal accident - could be very expensive). That's my understanding anyway......hopefully someone can correct me if I'm wrong?
 
I rang and asked them and they said it did cover other people riding my horse as well provided it wasn't permanent or for money. i.e. my friend and sharer can ride D when I'm away on holiday with no problems.
