Hiya

As per title really!

Horse is self insured, but we obviously need Public Liability cover for being out and about on the roads...

The Harry Hall membership is half the price of the BHS membership (the liability cover is less though)

Has anyone else made the switch? I just dont like change! But we all need to save money in these times ...

Any thoughts anyone please? TIA :) X

I am with BHS at the moment but looking at the price I'll probably switch to Harry Hall when it is due for renewal. £10 million would be sufficient cover. I deal with insurance (non-horse related) at work and when we ask for PL cover for projects etc we ask for £10 million from contractors so it would seem to follow that it would be enough for your average horse owner.

I've been with Harry Hall for a few years now. Its definitely been a worth while switch for me as I've also used the discounts that come with HH membership

I switched to Harry Hall when I stopped teaching and didn't have to be a member of the BHS. I think they have worthy goals but found them inefficient to work with. I also hated how they treated some members of staff.

I have found it to be expensive though. The actual insurance is cheap, but then they send you offers for clothes, numnahs, rugs, gloves... ooops.

I am going to look at how much it is to add public liability to my horse insurance when it is due for renewal as I currently get it though the BHS.

I think if you need to save money and it is going to work for you, switch!

I was with the BHS. Then at renewal I was going to go with Harry hall but then found a load of terrible reviews so renewed with the BHS!!

I was with the BHS but was so disillusioned with the whole organisation (and BHS Ireland in particular) that I swapped to HH when I stopped teaching. Most insurance companies will try and find someone else to foot the bill rather than covering it themselves, and the BHS does not have a good rep for paying out. I suspect it's all much of a muchness, but at least HH is cheaper and doesn't irritate me so much as the other crowd

I swapped to HH as I was unimpressed with the way the BHS organisation was going.
I've not had to claim on either so not sure how that is. I've bought a few bits and pieces with HH discount.

Dont take this as legal advice. But it was pointed out to me that many of us have public liability insurance on our household insurance. Student Grand daughter has been riding in my place during Covid lockdown and it turned out she has liability insurance on her parents' home policy.
BHS only pay out if no other poicy will.
I bought BHS life membership for OH and myself years ago, before my first RS hack, not realising we already had insurance and that a RS has their own.
