Public liability and accident coverage seems better with BHS than with insurers packages. Is there something I'm missing?

The public liabilty is good but the accident cover is only for worse case scenario i.e. you die.

Im with NFU for vets fees only and have BHS membership to give me my public liabilty insurace. It was about £30.00 cheaper for me to do it this way than to have public liabilty through NFU.

You can always take out extra personal accident cover if you wanted with your normal insurance.

evryone i know has BHS gold membership for public liability insurance, then some have other vets fees cover too. NFU does seem popular. I also heard that some household insurance policies cover anyway for public liability - but to my mind the small amount for BHS gold is worthwhile for the peace of mind. Plus it goes towards BHS funds/ work.

sadly not!, all motor insurance would count as different/ excluded. Some household policies include Public Liability for recreatonal activities eg cyclists/ riding but you'd need to check your policy wording, plus it would only apply to leisure ( non competition) use.

Maximum public liability (£2 mil) and maximum injury (death or dental work at £2k) with KBIS would cost me £40 (on top of vets fees premium, obviously). BHS Gold at £62 offering liability at £10 mil plus advice line etc...it's only £22 difference, I know, but is the extra liability etc worth it?

The BHS were brilliant when someone who had offered to transport my horse for me, and then set off with the back bar down, tried to claim thousands of pounds damage to her trailer plus the cost of hiring a trailer while hers was repaired. She went round the field so fast, the mare panicked and tried to jump over the front bar - presumably because the back one swung and hit her! The BHS gave me legal advice and would have paid all my legal fees if she had gone ahead, but also advised her (she's a member too) that she'd be wasting her time. Worth its weight in gold!

Something I will be looking into after discovering my so called horse insurance have screwed me over, I could spit blood I'm that angry over it, I do wonder the point of having it apart from requiring the public liability, bloody con merchants....sorry having a vent!
