Hi, I am looking to help someone look after their horse in the Durham area but I have not had any luck despite posting in local tackshop and on local riding forum. I dont have any horsey qualifications and was just wondering if it coudl be worth my while to do BHS Horse Owners Certificate 1 so I can add that to my ads? I really want to get back into riding and not just lessons because I feel they are very overpriced and rubbish where I am.I would be willing to take lessons on any horse offered to me as I know I am rusty and I have found lessons on your own horse are so much cheaper than ones on riding school horses and they are normally a heck of a lot better...
Do you rate the BHS Horse Owners Certificates?
Thanks

I dont think you would get much more interest because of it, its probably just worth waiting for the right thing to come along have to say if I was selling I wouldnt necessary choose the person with the qualification over someone without

HO 1 is a very basic level. I did level 3 to keep a friend company and I was surprised how basic that was even. I don't think many people will be impressed by it, being keen, dedicated & willing to learn is more likely to impress!

I did Certificates 1 and 2 just for interest but I would think that if you did all 4 levels it would certainly help. It would at least show that you have SOME knowledge. However, to do all four levels would take you some time. The courses are normally only offered once or maybe twice a year round here so it could take upwards of a year to do them all (and they're not cheap now either! My local agricultural college charges £165 per course)

I did HO1 when I was at college and was looking to do level 2 when they decided not to do it. They are pretty basic, but can work to show that you're dedicated enough to put the time effot and money into getting some kind of qualification.
