if you are on a yard that hasn't got any cattle, sheep, pigs or goats and you are not moving from there to a yard with any cattle, sheep, pigs or goats then you can move around with your horse
if you are at livery on a working farm with cattle sheep pigs or goats then you are standstill.
Am i reading a different article? It just says there is no restrictions on movement of horses outside the 3km restriction zone. Obviously use your common sence, but no ones saying you can't move.
However, horses can only be moved in or out of the 3km protection zones under licence. Within the zone horses cannot be moved from premises to premises where there are susceptible animals on the same premises, except under licence.
Horse boxes and trailers cannot be moved from premises within the 3km protection zone, where susceptible animals are kept except under licence.
yes - only inside the 3km zone or trying to enter or leave it - but the way it's written you have to know what are 'susceptible animals' - and horses are not susceptible
what is not mentioned in the BHS article is that not only is there a national ban on the movement of livestock - but also a national ban on the movement of manure and dung - so no muck heap removals should be taking place
As far as I'm aware there is no National ban on the movement of dung/manure but please update if I'm wrong.
The 3 August press release said "Nationally no animal movements are allowed except under licence, controls are in place on movement of animal carcasses, animal gatherings, shearing and dipping are restricted, and all farms must increase levels of biosecurity. In both the Protection and Surveillance Zones, there will be requirements for increased levels of biosecurity on farms, movement controls, controls on transportation of dung/manure and treatment of animal products to ensure destruction of the FMD virus."
