Does anyone have any experience of using their helpline, do they offer advice - or do they put you in touch with someone who does, do they charge.

How does it work really.

Sadly, in need :O(

Sorry to hear you're in need of our helpline :(

The legal, VAT and tax helpline (equine and non-equine issues) operates 24/7 and is completely free of charge to Gold members (apart from call charges; the dialling code is 02476 so call costs should be minimal if they're not included in your mobile/landline call plan).

You'll speak to an expert who will be able to offer advice on your issue, however extensive. If it then turns out that you'll need representation in your case from a hired solicitor, they'll be able to help you find this.

We hope you get things sorted soon.

I used them some years ago. They were brilliant. Really helpful. Guided me through what to do & I won the court case having represented myself.

I've used them very recently after some major issues after I purchased a new horse from a shockingly awful dealer... they were super!

On the one occasion I had cause to use the service, it wasn't terribly useful. I live in Scotland, so the usual practice were unable to help me and forwarded me on to a Scottish company. Whilst the woman I spoke to was very pleasant, she wasn't a new equine/farm/ rural specialist so didn't really understand the situation and thus was of limited help.

You don't get long, so write a list of the questions you need answering in order of importance.

For anyone reading this, who needs legal advice and isn't a BHS member/doesn't have legal cover on house insurance/etc, most solicitors will give you a free consultation.

I wasn't hurried at all or told I only had a short time for my call- when I called and it wasn't a particularly complex issue but lengthily to explain, call handler took plenty of time to make sure I had every bit of information I needed, chatted for a long time and very good customer service.

I seem to have been victimised then because the two times I tried to contact the legal helpline, I failed to make any contact whatsoever.

Then when I tried to get help in dealing with a ragwort problem on neighbouring property, I was advised to go to World Horse Welfare or SSPCA!

So I've cancelled my Gold membership. My money is better spent elsewhere.
