I am just curious regarding how BHS approve livery yards? I was on a livery yard a while back which was BHS approved and it was I have to say the worst yard I have ever been on. Abusive and unhelpful, uneducated staff, historical history of livery’s leaving because of bullying and neglect.
The horses basic welfare was not met, left without water for days injury’s that weren’t attended to.
Even though I have left this yard I am extremely concerned for the welfare of the horses that are in their care. Any advice on how to take this further would be highly welcome.

I agree, reporting to the BHS would be the only option (and letting people know on the down low, you can't overstate the importance of the grapevine). Since there are only 3-4 BHS approved livery yards in NI still operating I can say I have heard less than great things about 2 of them. So half ?

I don't know who is doing the inspections these days, but I do know that when the livery approval scheme came in, the standards were so low in most yards that the inspection bar was very low at the start in order to get them on the ladder, as it were. But it's about time they were dragged up to decent standards.

If you're going to report, do it to head office and not BHS Ireland.

Numerous previous liverys have contacted bhs and nothing has been done. I think people need to voice what is happening instead of turning a blind eye to it. These horses can’t speak but we can
