I’m tempted to get BHS gold membership to have access to their legal advice line and the additional public liability they offer. I already have insurance for my horse though, does anyone know if there are any implications of having two sets of public liability insurance? For example is there a risk the providers will push for the other to pay out which will add to the complexity if I ever need to claim?

If I remember correctly the BHS cover is an insurance of last resort so it will not pay out if you have any other insurance that will cover it. Could you ask for it to be taken off the horse policy so you can rely on the BHS cover?

I took public liability off my horse insurance to avaoid this - and it slightly reduced the price

This is what we have done too.
The insurance is also useful for any companion ponies or oldies you may have, they will be covered too.

Don't know if things have changed now - we used the legal helpline years ago for planning advice, and very helpful it was too.
