BHS Reporting Fireworks Incidents

Copied from FB. I don't have a horse-related incident to report but aware some on here might. More and more I feel fireworks need to be restricted in both urban and rural areas.

If you and your horse have been involved in an incident which involved fireworks, then please report it to the BHS.

Whilst we are not able to take direct action for each incident, our power is in being able to use the data that you provide to lobby for change.

Earlier this week, we joined fireworks campaigner Julie Doorne at No.10 Downing Street for the handover of a petition of over a million signatures, calling for an urgent review of legislation to prevent animals from suffering.
We were pleased to be standing next to other members of the Fireworks Working Group, including representatives from Redwings Horse Sanctuary, Dogs Trust, RSPCA and Assistance Dogs UK.

Our new statistics show there were 1,468 fireworks-related incidents involving horses between 1st November 2010 and 29th February 2024 –
49 horses died, 317 were injured and 84 people were hurt. We need change.

Hope so badly this achieves results.
Since the millennium, pyrotechnics worse than terrorism and entirely legal. We lost a mare - the middle of summer, some thoughtless, selfish, townie’s 50th birthday. But October half term to January is like open season on pets, livestock, wildlife, anyone with autism, ptsd, etc, etc, not to mention the money up in smoke and environmental consequences.
