BHS stage 1- any advice?

I'm currently revising for my BHS stage 1 and altho my friends have said I'll breeze through it I wanted some more advice on what to expect and if there is anything I should pay particular attention too while revising and if there is anything tricky I might be asked.

There are a few threads in the Careers and Education which deal with this topic and might be worth a look.

The main thing is to keep safety in mind at all times. The most common reason for people to fail is because they do something which does not fully consider their own safety. Treat every horses as if you have never seen it before and it could possibly be a stallion/youngster/flighty. Tie it up, fold up rugs to put them on, fasten throatlash first (as that is the bit which secures the bridle if the horse were to get away from you), check stitching on tack as you put it on and so on. When riding be positive and follow instructions but again be safe, such as not taking your feet out of the stirrups to adjust them and making sure you keep one horses distance between you and the horse in front.

Have you had any tuition? Has it been from someone who is familier with the BHS exams and up to date with the latest changes brought in this year?

Thanks for the advice, I'll have a look over there, i've not had any tuition altho im considering it before i do the test, as its quite expensive thing to have to do twice! :) yeah my friend has got an equestrian degree and has just completed her stage 3. :)
 
Just make sure you are familiar with the BHS way of doing things.
Try to relax.
When I went me and everybody else had been panicing majorly over the feeding aspect - I actually found this to be one of the easiest.

They are looking for you to be safe around the horses and they are there to help you, not to fail you :) I found the experience of my Stage One to be quite pleasant - me, that had a panic attack at doing a mock test wit my driving instructor.
